James E. Palen, M.D.

Dr. James “Doc� Palen has been practicing medicine in Cape Girardeau for more than 30 years. He is a retired Air Force Colonel, an avid pilot and a Sr. Aviation Medical Examiner. Dr. Palen is the Medical Director for Woodland Hills and is on the active medical staff at Southeast Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center. The electronic medical record software that he helped to design, with his son, Rick, has been certified by the government for use in physician offices and includes exclusive patent pending technology.
J. Richard Palen, M.D.

Dr. J. Richard Palen is practicing medicine along side his father. He completed his residency at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. A pilot in his spare time, he is also a Sr. Aviation Medical Examiner. Dr. Palen is the Medical Director at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau and on the active medical staff at Southeast Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center. Dr. Palen holds a B.S. in Physics from Southeast Missouri State University and studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO.
